Fishing in Aysen Region
This is the outdoors paradise for all life lovers, offerings a fascinating
scenario allocated between the north and south ice fields, a Patagonian
millennial native flora with a unique fauna in the world, where you
can enjoy the outdoors life with the patagonians way of life of the
native people.
Between November and April, all mornings and evenings during the sunset,
you can admire the big trouts among 1 to 8 kilos located in the eddies
between trunks and the foliage, emerging in search of an ephemeral
or a caddis that fills a great part of the water surface in order
to dry off and undertake the flight. These water also harbours an
abundant population of brown and rainbow trout, steelhead - coho-chinook
salmons all very strong and combative in the bite and offer a sensational
fight between you and they; cutting the water with theirs back they
undertake a wild race to the depths; this is an unbeatable sensation.
The new ecological tourist complex "PATAGONIA BAKER LODGE"
is the only one built along Baker River riverside, carefully implemented
with all last generation's equipment in order to avoid any contamination
to the environment, their comfortable facilities, rooms with the Baker
River as scenario, two full size beds, heating, carpeted and all with
his own bathroom, luxuriously arranged for your comfort. Also it is
available a VIP bedroom with Jacuzzi included. Their Club House was
conceived to offer you a pleasant rest, where at the bar you can request
an excellent chilean wine or any drink at your choice, and enjoy it
admiring the fire of the big chimney with a delicate appetiser and
chatting with your fishing guide. At the end of the day you are invited
to our dinning room where you can choose from our delicate international
food and where you also are allowed to meet us at our kitchen in order
to show us all your culinary talents. Later on we invite you to our
bundle of flies shop, where you will be able to make that fly that
lacks, to learn from our guides or to exchange experiences with them
and prepare your equipment for your next day adventure.
You will permanently be with your bilingual guide, that will provide
all his expertise knowledge in order to assure a good catch with
safety; with him you will be able to discover different rivers and
lakes in the area, including undiscovered areas no named yet.

Puerto Murta, Puerto Tranquilo, Puerto Guadal, Puerto Bertrand,
Cochrane also you will be able to learn about the history of their
people, the geography and a lot more from our bilingual guides.

FISHING GEAR SUGGESTIONS:
We recommend rod weights 5, 7, and 9, medium to fast action. Line
inventory should include both floating and sinking T200, T300 and
T400. Leader stock should include 01X to 6X for Dry Fly, Nymphs
and Streamers. All fishing at Patagonia Baker Lodge is "catch
and release".
The Lodge does not provide fishing gear. However we do offer for
sale a good selection of flies, same as used by our Fishing Guides.

RECOMMENDED CLOTHING:
Essential is to wear a rain and wind impermeable jacket, neoprene
waders and thermic clothing .

ABOUT WEATHER:
Is variable and in wintertime the temperature is bellow 0º
C, but allows to perform all tourist activities. The summertime
provides with sunny or partially clouded days with mean temperature
between 20 and 25 º C during the day. At night it refreshes
but is very pleasant. The lodge site is very near to the ocean and
in the middle of the forest, so it is expected to have some rain
during the week. That is the reason to recommend you to bring some
thermic light rain and wind impermeable clothing and it is a must
to bring a chest wader.

Notes:
There is nothing dangerous to take care about. We do not have any
dangerous plants or animals in this area.
We suggest to make reservation in advance
One final word: The colihuachos (native black flies) bother a lot,
but they are not dangerous. If you use nets on your face plus gloves
on your hands, you shouldn´t face any trouble, except their
sound. They live from December to end of January, then disappeared.
