Initiation
to the mountaineering. Medium and basic skills.
Climb your first 5.000m summit! This expedition is ideal for a first
high altitude experience. El Plomo mount is an easy mountain, that
requires no special mountaineering techniques, but just demands an
earning reach the top and a good physical capacity. This climbing
will allow you to be well prepared for other major expeditions and
offers great chance to see the major summits of the Central Andean
range, and future goals like Ojos del Salado volcano or Aconcagua
mount, apart to get spectacular vistas. |

Day 1
SANTIAGO - LA PARVA -LAGUNA DEL FRANCISCANO |
We leave
Santiago and drive to La Parva ski resort. Short walk to camp close
to Laguna Del Franciscano (3.600m). Acclimatization (L, D) |
Day 2
LAGUNA DEL FRANCISCANO - PIEDRA NUMERADA |
Approach
walk (3 hours) to the camp called Piedra Numerada (3.400m). Acclimatization.
It is possible to go higher according to the group's conditions. (B,
L, D). |
Day 3
PIEDRA NUMERADA - OLLA DEL PLOMO |
We follow
a valley up to the "Olla del Plomo" site (6 to 8 hours)
at the 4.300m elevation, at the foot of El Plomo glaciers. Camp. (B,
L, D) |
Day 4
OLLA DEL PLOMO - SUMMIT - OLLA DE PLOMO |
Ascent
of El Plomo (6 to 8 hours), at 5.430m. We pass the "Pirca Del
Indio", ancient Inca sanctuary before to crossing the glacier
that leads to the summit plateau. From the top, the vista of the Andean
Mountain Range is exceptional. We can see the Tupungato (6.570 m)
and the Aconcagua (6.959m)... Return to the camp. (B, L, D). |
Day 5
OLLA DEL PLOMO - LA PARVA - SANTIAGO |
Long walk
to La Parva, where our vehicle brings us back to Santiago. (B, L) |

For this
program it is necessary basic skills and medium physical level. The
altitude, the constant wind and possible poor physical condition of
the traveler are the main difficulties of the expedition. We recommend
a good physical condition, good personal equipment and a solid acclimatization
(which we provide) to get the chance of success. Our programs include
a minimum acclimatization period that we deem necessary. |
